Koroneiki is the most important olive oil variety in Greece and is used exclusively for oil production. Its origin is from the area of Koroni, Messinia. It is an early variety as its maturation begins in early October. It is a very productive variety with its oil yield of 20% -25%, resistant to the dry thermal conditions of our country and produces vintage oil with excellent aroma and taste.
The olive grows in all soils, even in barren stony ones. However, it performs much better in relatively fertile soils that retain enough moisture. Yield per tree ranges from 30 to 100 kg depending on planting conditions and distances. It has excellent quality olive oil which is stable every year with a wonderful intense aroma and spicy taste. Studies in Greece and abroad have shown that olive oil from the Koroneiki variety has the highest content of anti-inflammatory substances.
